Jamtrax "Hot Guitarist" Contest to Uncover New Talent

New York, NY -- Music Sales Corp. has announced an exciting "Hot Guitarist Contest", which is a special opportunity for guitarists looking to showcase their skills at NAMM, the music industry's most popular trade show. Co-sponsored by Music Sales Corp., the developer of JamTrax, and Washburn Guitars, the contest allows guitarists to use their imaginations and perform solo -- along with the recorded backup bands on JamTrax cassettes.

Not only will budding guitar superstars have the unique chance to play for peers and celebrities, they will also be eligible to win the $1,000 grand prize. The second prize winner receives a Washburn Mercury Series MG40 Electric Guitar valued at $600, and the third place award is a Washburn regional artist endorsement contract.

The Music Sales Hot Guitarist Contest preliminaries will be held in the Music Sales Corp. booth #365 in the Anaheim Convention Center on Saturday, Jan. 22 from 11 a.m. to noon, and from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., and on Sunday, Jan. 23 from 11 a.m. to noon. Finalists will compete on Sunday, Jan. 23 from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. A distinguished panel of judges includes: John Stix, editor of Guitar for the Practicing Musician Magazine, Craig Chaquico former guitarist for Jefferson Starship whose solo album "Acoustic Highway" was selected as one of the top ten sellers in Billboard Magazine's year end charts, Del Breckenfeld, director of artist relations, Washburn Guitar, Ralph Agresta, developer of JamTrax, and Peter Pickow, editor-in-chief at Music Sales Corp.
Music Sales Hot Guitarist Contest entry forms will be available at the Music Sales booth #365, as well as at the Washburn/Soundtech "Monster Bash III" concert.

This major "Monster Bash" concert event will be held on Friday, Jan. 21 at 8:00 p.m. in the Inn at the Park Hotel. The schedule includes performances by Nuno Bettencourt, Terry Kilgore with the David Lee Roth Band, Kip Winger, Tony Macalpine, Michael Angelo, T.M. Stevens, Darren Housholder and a special "Unplugged" acoustic segment featuring Craig Chaquico and Preston Reed.

JamTrax interactive books and cassettes were developed by nationally recognized author/producer Ralph Agresta as a way for musicians to practice their craft along with a "portable" rhythm section. Guitarists, as well as bassists, saxophonists and keyboard players can practice soloing and hone improvisational skills with the live band backup on JamTrax cassettes.
Ralph Agresta is a nationally known guitarist, producer, songwriter, arranger and composer. He has transcribed music for top-selling musicians such as AC/DC, Santana, Queen, Richie Sambura, Richie Blackmore and Ted Nugent. Agresta has also played with Cyndi Lauper, Brian Setzer and Hiram Bullock. Creator of "The Classic Riff Collection" books, he has also developed numerous JamTrax interactive tape and cassette packages for guitar, bass, keyboard, sax, rap and harmonica, which are all available through Music Sales Corp.
